Alternative Dispute Resolution

LXL has a strong ADR team and its lawyers have advised its clients on various ADR processes including:

  • negotiation
  • expert determination
  • adjudication
  • mediation

whether pursued independently of, or as a precursor to, or in parallel with arbitration or litigation proceedings.

If properly coordinated, ADR can be an effective tool for resolving disputes as they save on time and money, are less formal and can be run with less interruption to/adverse effect on the commercial relationship. The disadvantages of ADR is that if unsuccessful it can prolong the final resolution of the dispute and it is not usually legally binding.
